Drag Race Classes

Tuner

Any three or four cylinder car with naturally aspirated engine. Must have stock body and interior. NO turbo, superchargers or power adders. NO all wheel drive vehicles. NO race cars or trucks allowed. NO Nitrous allowed. Includes 6 cylinders with less than 250hp.

Street Bandits

Foreign & domestic cars with stock body, three, four, or five cylinders that have factory turbo and superchargers along with six cylinders with naturally aspirated engines. Drag radials are allowed. Unmodified rotary engines allowed. NO modified drive train or suspension modifications.

NO Nitrous allowed.

AWD cars with 300HP or less are allowed in this class.

Sportsman

Foreign and domestic cars with stock body, 8 cylinders, naturally aspirated. All control arms, shocks and springs must be in stock location. NO cutting of inner or rear fender wells (only outside can be rolled). NO engine modification allowed. NO factory turbo or superchargers allowed. NO slicks. Drag radials allowed. NO Nitrous allowed.

Super Cars

Cars with factory authorized upgrades from the likes of Hennesey, Lingenfelter, Roush, Shelby, etc...Foreign and domestic cars with stock body. All control arms, shocks and springs must be in stock location. NO cutting of inner or rear fender wells (only outside can be rolled). NO engine modification allowed. Factory turbo and superchargers allowed. Drag Radials allowed. No slicks. NO Nitrous allowed.

Street Outlaws

Any car with stock appearing body. Suspension modification allowed. Any engine modifications and rotary engines allowed. Maximum 31 x 10.5w (slicks); 31 x 12.5 (drag radial) size tires. NO wheelie bars allowed.

Black Smoke Warriors

All diesel powered or modified gas powered trucks, and SUVs. Any size All Terrain tire allowed, Drag radials and slicks limited to same size as Outlaw.

All Wheel Drive

Foreign and Domestic cars with stock body and any engine configuration featuring All Wheel Drive. (Turbos and superchargers allowed, Modified drivetrain allowed)

Drag Radials allowed, no slicks.

Street bandit will still handle lower powered AWD vehicles (such as a factory stock stick shift subaru that will have less 300hp or less).

EV

Foreign and Domestic Electric Vehicles. Must have stock body and drivetrain. No modifications to the motors or batteries allowed. Drag radials allowed.

Is there a buy in for the competition money?

Your buy in is included when you purchase your drag racing ticket! The higher the attendance, the higher the payout for each class.

How much are the payouts?

Payouts are based on total driver attendance; the more drivers, the higher the payout.

The minimum total payout is $3k split across all classes.

Street Outlaw - $1000 to $2000

Sportsman - $450 - $900

Street Bandit - $450 - $900

Super Car - $400 - $800

AWD - $300 - $600

Black Smoke - $250 - $500

Tuner - $150 - $300

How does the competition work?

Each class winner will receive a payout. Every class will have a different payout. Payouts are set based on class turnout & a few other Criteria. The competition is no prep, elimination style. Either arm drop, or flashlight start.

What are the tech requirements?

Safety Tech -

1. Must have all wheel lugnuts

2. Seat belts must work correctly

3. NO LEAKS OF ANY KIND

4. Battery tied down

5. HELMETS REQUIRED (purchase a rental if you need one)

6. Car, including tires, must be in general good condition.

7. No wheely bars allowed. Parachutes must not be used.

EVENT STAFF MAKE FINAL CALL ON TECH DECISIONS; STAFF HAVE RIGHT TO APPROVE OR DENY FOR ANY REASON

Is this a prepped track?

NO! NO PREP! We run on the 1/8th mile section of the Nascar pit road.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

YES! Helmets are required. We have a limited supply available for rent online, and an even more limited amount available during the event.

Do I need a cage or fire suit?

If your car runs 8's in the 1/4 it is HIGHLY recommended your car is caged and a fire suit is worn.

Are passengers allowed?

Texas Motor Speedway does not allow passengers on the drag strip
